Create Custom Emails In Lightroom

Using a combination of Facebook messaging, emails or text messages to inform a client their images are available for viewing can get complicated. A simple solution is to develop a consistent workflow and stick to it.

Strap On a Platypod Ultra

I found a location that is quite picturesque. A wooden bridge over a creek featuring a waterfall was a very busy entrance into a subdivision. There wasn’t room to safely use a tripod. I came up with two solutions. Both thanks to the new Playtpod Ultra. Tree, meet Platypod Ultra I found a tree next to…

Dark Photography – A selection of images form our #ThursdayTheme

Selection of dark photography images

It’s less than a week until Halloween and so, for last week’s #ThursdayTheme, we wanted to see your ‘dark photography’. These ‘dark’ images are absolutely stunning and just proves the level of talent we have within this amazing group. Thanks again to everyone who entered an image, you certainly know how to wow us!

#FridayFoto was created by Kev Parker this week!

Chocolate labrador dog swimming in water with black background

Here’s what Julie had to say about Kev’s image:

“It’s one of those ‘stop scrolling and do a happy sigh’ images. I love a lot about it.

I’m a bit of a sucker for labradors having grown up with a spectacularly stupid and lovable one. There is a gentleness about this dog which has been captured beautifully. I can’t stop looking at that tired but glowing amber eye. So gorgeous!

The light is stunning. That yummy side sunlight against the brown fur and the reflections in the water. If this was my furry pal I would treasure this until the end of time.

Thanks Kev!”

Would you really buy a Platypod?

Seeking Moonrise

No, this isn’t about an eclipse of the moon, or sun. Or even about the moon for that matter. Rather, it’s about finding a photograph, and a realization that, as the proverb goes, you can’t step in the same river twice…because the water has changed. My wife and I were in Albuquerque, in good measure…

Emotional Photography – A selection of images from our #ThursdayTheme

Last week our #ThursdayTheme was ‘Emotions’ and you guys shared so many of your emotional images – I hope you have your tissues ready!  Thank you to everyone who took part again this week – you’re all amazing!

#FridayFoto is this tear jerker from Jennifer L. Norrick!

Here’s what Julie had to say about Jennifer’s image:

“I can’t imagine a more fitting entry. If you missed the story behind this image – this mum is not only crying with joy and relief that her newborn baby has made it safely into the world, she’s also crying tears of grief having lost her younger sister earlier in the day.

Birth photographers are so privileged to be party to these amazing moments in the delivery room and beforehand but I can’t imagine how challenging and emotionally draining it must be too.

For me – capturing moments and expressions like this is what birth photography is all about. The way it is. Raw and beautiful and intense.

Thank you for sharing this with us Jennifer!”

What the Heck is (The New) Lightroom CC

A Re-Introduction to the New Lightroom Classic CC

Lightroom Classic CC Updates Today (What’s New in the “Old” Lightroom)

In case you haven’t heard…  Adobe has renamed the existing photo editing application, Adobe Lightroom Photoshop Lightroom CC to Lightroom Classic CC. This name change is to make way for a new product simply called Lightroom CC.  Adobe is positioning Lightroom Classic CC for users who want: A desktop-based (file/folder) digital photography workflows. Read This Before Updating Your Lightroom Catalog

When you go to install the Lightroom Classic update, your existing Lightroom catalog is going to go through a significant upgrade process.  This process WILL take longer (even a lot longer) than you are used to.  This is because Adobe is compressing the Develop History and Metadata values in lrcat. This is expected to improve the overall responsiveness…

Using A Very Small Flash

Many of you only have the little pop-up flash built into your camera or a very tiny flash that can be attached to the camera hot-shoe (such as the flash that comes with the Fuji X-T2). Some of you prefer not to carry a big flash around because you want to be less conspicuous or…

Awesome Phone Photography – A selection of images from our #ThursdayTheme

#ThursdayTheme last week was ‘AWESOME PHONE PHOTOGRAPHY’. The image had to have been captured with a phone camera – that was the only rule. Post processing was absolutely okay. Who needs a fancy camera when you can create images like this using just your phone?!!

#FridayFoto is this funky capture by Lisa Friday!

Here’s what Julie had to say about Lisa’s image:

“You had some hot competition from Victoria, Christine and A.J. Belen but I kept coming back to yours!

It’s such a fun image and that’s what phones are perfect for. Grabbing a shot on the fly as soon as you see it.

I’m not sure whether to be scared of these two characters are not. Are they preparing to beat me up or play me at cricket?  😂

The posing is perfect against that atmospheric sky and I love that low angle you’ve captured this from. It’s perfect!”

Thanks, once again, to everyone who shared an image with us this week – you’re awesome!
